Summer Reading Challenge 2013 is here! To participate, Lubbock ISD students, faculty and staff will complete a reading log of books read over the summer. Back to school information for 2013 - 2014 can be found by clicking here. Personnel are available at every LISD campus to assist parents and facilitate the enrollment process. Our Principal David Doyle will be retiring at the end of the school year.  He began his career 32 years ago as a 4th grade classroom teacher and has been an elementary school principal for the last 20 years, spending the last 5 years as the Wright & Arnett Elementary Principal.  He has been a steady leader for our staff and students.  His approach to education always focuses on the students and the best way we can all work together to make sure they succeed.  Mr Doyle says he will miss the relationships the most as he leaves.  "The relationships with the kids, with the faculty. That's what I'm going to miss come August."  

Mr Doyle leaves a legacy at Wright that will continue for years to come.  While we will all miss him greatly, we wish him the best in his future endeavors! 

This year Wright Elementary and Texas Tech University's Tech Teach program partnered to bring three graduating senior education students to spend the year on our campus.  Our first and second grade teachers received valuable assistance, our students benefited from extra attention and these students got to learn from the best!  Now, as they graduate, the faculty and students want them to know we're all going to miss them and hope they will fondly remember their year with us as they begin their careers.  Best of everything in the future!!


Carissa Williams assisted 1st grade teacher Amberlee Reed.  She will be teaching 2nd grade at Gentry Elementary School in Mesquite next year.

Morgan Montano assisted 2nd grade teacher Jill Anderson.  She will be teaching kindergarten at Reuben Johnson Elementary School in Mesquite next year.

Brittany Tolson assisted 1st grade teacher Sharissa McMeans.  She is currently interviewing in the Dallas Metroplex area.
